Anand Bakshi was a famous lyricist and poet of India. He was born in a Pakistani city called Rawalpindi (earlier a part of the Indian subcontinent), on the 21st of July, 1920 and died in Mumbai, Maharashtra on the 30th of March, 2002. Anand Bakshi had written over 4000 songs in his entire life span for the Hindi film industry of Bollywood. He was one of those great Indian poets and lyricists who have expressed their love emotions in unusual and romantic ways.

Anand Bakshi got his first break in 1967 after writing for many movies over several decades. The Hindi film `Milan` made him famous and successful. It also gave him the chance to express himself as a lyricist and work for top music directors in Indian film. Anand Bakshi proved himself to be a lyricist and showed his versatility with `Dum Maro Dum`, a popular Hindi song, in the film `Hare Rama Hare Krishna`. After this success, he never had to look back. 40 Filmfare nominations were granted to Anand Bakshi and he received four of these awards as the best lyricist. He received the Filmfare Award for `Aadmi Musafir Hai` (Film - `Apnapan`), a famous Hindi song in 1977 for the first time. The song `Tere Mere Beech` in the film `Ek Duuje Ke Liye` won him the second Filmfare Award in 1981. Other Filmfare Awards received by Anand Bakshi were for the song `Tujhe Dekha` (Film - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) in 1995 and Ishq Bina (Film `Taal`).
Other awards received by Anand Bakshi include Aashirwad Film Awards, Screen awards, Ruby Film Awards and Sushma Shama Awards. The `Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals` or SPCA also honored him with his lyrics for `Nafrat Ki Duniya Chhodke Pyar Ki Duniya`, the Hindi song in film `Haathi Mere Saathi`.
