Mitra Cinema started its journey on 15th April 1963. Daktar, under the banner of New Theatre Studio, starred by Pankaj Mullick, was the first movie showed here. Hindi, Bengali and English movies are played here. Both commercial as well as art films are shown in this hall.
Mitra Cinema in Kolkata is located close to the Darpana cinema hall. Shyambazar 5 points crossing, metro station and tram station are found at short distance. Several restaurants and cafes are located in the nearby area.

The movies featuring legendary personalities of Indian film industry, ranging from Dev Anand, Dharmendra, Rajendra Kumar, Rajesh Khanna and Amitav Bachhan to Sharukh, Amir Khan and Salman Khan are played here.
