Vajra Cinema was inaugurated in the year 1983, on 15th August. It is located in Balukhani in Sikkim. 'Kranti' was the first movie to be screened here. When the theater first started out the total seating capacity was 1325. Presently, Vajra Cinema hall can accommodate 1014 spectators. It boasts of its Dolby Sound System which was installed in the year 1999. Vajra Cinema runs regular shows of newly released Bollywood films. The movies are shown here in the 70 mm format.
Denzong Cinema, Sikkim
Denzong Cinema is one of the most-visited Sikkim cinema halls. It is located in Lal Market in Gangtok. The work of constucting the building of this cinema hall began in the year 1960. It was opened to public on 12th September, 1962. Denzong Cinema was inaugurated by Chogyal Sir Tashi Namgyal, the then His Highness of Sikkim. The movie theater has a total seating capacity of 790 people spread over in 3 categories of seating arrangements. The first movie that was shown here was 'Amardeep' which had Dilip Kumar and Vaijanthi Mala in the leading roles. Denzong Cinema underwent a complete revamp during 1999-2000. It is the fourth in the country to have the latest Dolby Digital Surrounded Ex-Audio system. Here you can watch newly released Bollywood films as well as old Hindi classics.
