The orphanage is owned by John Kakkad, a strict warden. Karan is inspired from the stories of India's World Cup victory in 1983 from the caretaker of the orphanage, Bholu Dada.

The name of the movie is taken from a famous dialog used by Amitabh Bachchan and his 7 brothers in the movie Satte Pe Satta. The phrase "Chain Kulii ke Main Kulii" means, "When I am 'Good', I am Good.. But when I am 'Bad'.. I am better". Rahul Bose plays a character called Varun Roy who is an aggressive captain of the Indian cricket team. He shares good and strong friendship with Karan. The film depicts the spirit of a small orphan boy who lived with his dream of becoming a great cricketer.
