In keeping with the legacy of the Prithviraj Theaters, and the Kapoor family, Shashi Kapoor has indeed carved a niche for himself. The youngest among his brothers, Shashi Kapoor happens to be one of the cutest and best known chocolate heroes that Bollywood has ever produced. Starting out at an early age, this actor has also been closely associated with the English and American theaters. According to the actor, he is extremely indebted to his father Pritviraj Kapoor, eldest brother Raj Kapoor and his wife Jannifer, all of whom who had a positive influence on life and career. Having walked a memorable track in his film history, Shashi Kapoor is still regarded as one of the charming and adorable heroes of all times.
Biographical details of Shashi Kapoor
Originally named as Balbirraj, Shashi was born to his parents Prithviraj and Rama on the 18th of March, in the year 1938. Born in the British Indian city of Calcutta, Shashi moved to Mumbai much later, when his family got shifted there. Having hailed from the first families of the Mumbai film industry, Shashi Kapoor had a natural flair for histrionics. He was a major part of his father's theater group, where he not only acted but also assisted in direction. Through his acting in the Prithviraj theaters, Shashi came in touch with the British group Shakespeareana, where he met his soul mate Jennifer.
After much opposition from her parents, the two finally tied the knot in the year 1958. Thereafter, the actor had three children out of the wedding lock. As for his film career, the actor started out as a child artist acting in several Hindi mythological movies. He had also earned acclaim for his roles in the junior versions of the protagonist in films like Aag and Awara, where the leading character was played by Raj Kapoor. His innocent looks, charming smile and a slender body unlike his elder brothers, soon made Shashi Kapoor the most wanted romantic hero of Bollywood.
