Born in the film city of Mumbai, Rishi has been fortunate to be born in the First Family of the Hindi Film industry, the Kapoor clan. His birth on the 4th of September of 1952, to Krishna and Raj Kapoor gave the family an able scion to their rich artistic heritage. With his natural flair for acting, it was quite obvious that just like his father and grandfather Rishi wanted to have a sparkling acting career for himself. It is true that mostly due to the wish of his father, Rishi Kapoor was kept out of films at least when he was a child. However, he was suddenly brought to the world Hindi films, because his father could not find an apt match for a particular character.



Right from his first film, at the bare age of 18, there was huge critical appreciation of his work. Thereafter, there was no looking back for Rishi Kapoor, as far as his career in movies were concerned. As for his personal life, he tied the nuptial knot with his co-star and sweetheart, Neetu Kapoor. Rishi is now the proud father to his children Ranbir and Riddhima. While Ranbir has already taken his entry into films, Riddhima keeps herself busy with her designing assignments.

The debut film was Mera Naam Joker in the year 1970, for which Rishi Kapoor also received the BFJA Special Award. He is in fact one of the youngest actors of Bollywood to receive such a recognition. Among the other notable films are Bobby, Rafoo Chakkar, Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, Kabhie Kabhie, Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan, Karz just to cite a few.
