Rajesh Khanna one of the most popular male actors in Bollywood was born on December 29, 1942 in Amritsar as Jatin Khanna. Besides his glamorous acting career he also served a remarkable 5 year tenure in the Parliament of India as MP. One of the best things about Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna is that he could slip into any role effortlessly and could make a big impression with the audience.
Rajesh Khanna belonged to an affluent family. He stepped into the cinema only after several theatrical performances. About Rajesh Khanna it is said, he is the first officially declared Superstar of Indian Cinema.Rajesh Khanna stepped into the film industry after winning an All India Talent Contest in 1966. He debuted in the movie "Aakhri Khat". His career skyrocketed with the 1969 release Aradhana.
He mostly paired with the popular actresses Mumtaz and Sharmila Tagore and produced great hits. He is still remembered for his commendable performances in the movies- Anand, Amar Prem, Andaaz, Bawarchi, Daag, Kati Patang and Namak Haraam. He had a tremendous female fan following.
He delivered successively 15 hits from the years 1969 to 1973. Most of songs were sung by the ace playback singer Kishore Kumar. In the later stages however, after suffering several flops he restored his image in the movies like Avtar, Thodisi Bewafai and Souten. He also made guest appearances in the hits Disco Dancer, and Vijay. Rajesh Khanna also did two television serials. He starred in a series called Aapne Parai which was aired on B4U and DD Metro. He also acted in the serial Ittefaque which was showed on Zee TV.
He appeared for an album of Rabindra Sangeet where he performed for the immortal songs of Tagore, free of cost. Currently he is occupied in the launching of his own channel which would be called as R.K. Music Channel. He has also endorsed a program called "Star se Superstar tak" and donated a Gold Trophy worth Rs.1 Crore with actress Ms. Priyanka Chopra.
