, the veteran actor who is till today remembered as the most outstanding actors of all times. Raj Kapoor was one of the most popular male actors in bollywood. He was born on December 14, 1924 and lived till June 2, 1988. He was not only a versatile actor but also a producer and a director. He belongs to the famous family PrithviRaj Kapoor
whose generations before and after have been somehow been always associated with acting and stage.
Interestingly, Raj Kapoor`s career started off as a clapper boy where he assisted Kidar Sharma. He made his acting debut at the age of 11 in the film Inquilab which was released in 1935. However he got noticed by the people only when he did the lead role in Neel Kamal by Kidar Sharma. In 1948, he launched his own studio, R. K. Films and at an early age of 24 and was the youngest film director of his times. He directed, produced, as well as starred in movie Aag.
Andaz was his first major success which led to volley of other blockbusters like Barsaat, Awaara, Shree 420, Chori Chori and Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai. These movies portrayed his underdog character which can be related to Charlie Chaplin`s "The Tramp". His first color movie released in 1964 by the name of Sangam. His next color film Mera Naam Joker which is one of longest Bollywood movies and was completed in six years threw light on his personal life.
He produced his son Randhir Kapoor`s acting and directorial debut Kal Aaj Aur Kal. Next he launched his second eldest son Rishi Kapoor`s film career with the blockbuster Bobby. His works on Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Prem Rog and Ram Teri Ganga Maili are considered impeccable.
