Bollywood Home Nana Patekar
Anyone interested in Bollywood Hindi movies must have heard about Nana Patekar, the coolest man in this industry. His actual name was Vishwanath Patekar but he is known in the film industry with the name of "Nana". Apart from being an actor he has also proved his talent as a filmmaker. He was born on 1st January in the year 1951 in Murud-Janjira. This is a town in Maharashtra. Nana Patekar completed his studies in the stream of applied arts from Sir J. J. Institute. Dankar Patekar, Nana's father was a painter by profession and this is why he was brought up in a truly artistic family. He took interest in Bollywood films after completing graduation with the subject mentioned above.
The very original style of Nana Patekar is the main reason which made him a legendary figure in the world of Indian films. He is believed to often write down his own dialogs. Sometimes he even improvises on the script. This practice has helped to make all of his dialogs to become unique. Apart from movies, Nana Patekar has always been an interesting character in Mumbai. He secretly sketches for the Mumbai police to catch criminals, although there is no proof about this fact.
Nana Patekar started his career with Gaman, which was released in the year 1978. In this movie he played in the role of Vasu. But he became famous for his excellent role of Major Chauhan in Prahaar: The Final Attack which came out in 1991. He played the role of a strict Major in the Indian Army. Although appearing quite rough and tough, he also portrayed the character's sensitive sides and introspections. No one can forget Nana's famous role of the deaf and dumb father in the film titled as Khamoshi: The Musical. Joseph Braganza was the name of this character and Nana efficiently portrayed the feelings of affection and pain in a man who can neither speak nor hear.
In the year 2005, Nana Patekar got the national reputation for the film Ab Tak Chappan. In this film he played the role of a police officer who falls prey to the underworld strategies. He won National Film Award in the category of Best Actor for the film Krantiveer in the year 1994. Star Screen Award was another one which he won for the same film. Agni Sakshi is another movie in which Nana Patekar appeared as a psycho killer who runs after his former wife.
