Akshay Khanna, the youngest son of actor Vinod Khanna and the younger brother of actor Rahul Khanna is a two-time Filmfare Award-winning popular Indian Bollywood actor. Born on 28th March 1975 in Mumbai, India, Akshay Khanna has worked in many critically and commercially successful movies and is one of the Popular Male Actors in Bollywood.
At the age of 22 in the year 1997, Akshay Khanna walked into film and made his debut in his father's production Himalaya Putra. Though his first movie was not a hit, his second release, 'Border' in the same year by J. P. Dutta did very well at the box office, becoming the highest grossing film of that year. 'Border' also earned Akshay Khanna his very first Filmfare Award as the Best Debut Male. Akshay Khanna has had a checkered film career, playing some of The Unforgettable Characters in Bollywood, with some of his movies becoming a hit and some failing to catch the attendance of the audience.
Another of Akshay Khanna's film that fared quite well in the box office was Subhash Ghai's 'Taal' that released in the year 1999. this movie was followed by Farhan Akhtar's moderately successful 'Dil Chahta Hai' in the year 2001, which became the fifth highest grossing film in the year. Akshay Khanna's performance in the film was well received by critics and won him the second film award of his career. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Akshay Khanna's next release was Abbas Mustan's 'Humraaz' released in the year 2002, were he for the very first time played a negative role. His performance was applauded and earned him a nomination for Filmfare Best Villain Award and in the year 2003 won him in the International Indian Film Academy Awards, the IIFA Best Villain Award.
Akshay Khanna has even acted in comedy movies like 'Hungama' in 2003 and 'Hulchul' in 2004 and both films did well at the box office, with the latter becoming one of the highest grossing films of 2004. Akshay Khanna's recent portrayal of 'Harilal Gandhi' in the critically acclaimed movie 'Gandhi, My Father' was praised by critics and was mentioned as one of his best performance so far. A famous male Bollywood actor, Akshay Khanna has also won some important Awards in Bollywood like the Star Screen Awards in the year 1998 and 2002, the International Indian Film Academy Awards in 2003 and the Filmfare Awards in 1998 and 2002.
