Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was one of the eminent lyricists in Bollywood who have made invaluable contributions to the Indian cinema. Very little is known about this excellent lyricist who took the industry by storm during the sixties and seventies. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was never very much highlighted by the media. Like his contemporaries who enjoyed a life full of pomp and glitz he preferred to lead a simple life.
Most of his best works were set to melodious tune by Madan Mohan. He was a bosom friend of Madan Mohan and was associated with more or less all his major projects. The films and albums which came his way during his career include Mera Saaya, Neela Akaash, Dulhan Ek Raat Ki, Who kaun Thi, Nirdosh, Kalpana, Do Dilon Ki Dastan, Shola aur Shabnam, Hong Kong, Nakli Nawab, Madhosh, namuna, Jab Yaad Kisi ki Aati Hai, 24 ghante, Anita, Aankhen, Jaagir and Do Bhai.
He has worked with several music directors like O P Nayyar, Robin Banerjee, Laxmikant Pyarelal, SD Burman, and Babool Supriyo.
