Born in the year 1924, Indeevar has composed some of the finest lyrics for Bollywood movies till his death in the year 1999. Indeevar was born in Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh as Shyamalal Bahu Rai. One of the most popular Bollywood lyricists, in the 1960's, Indeevar's major hits include Zindagi ka Safar, Kasme Vaade Pyaar Wafa, and Chandan Sa Badan amongst others. He spent his early years in Barua Sagar in Jhansi District. From here he later shifted to Bombay.

He came to Bombay with the motive of making a career in films. He began with an assignment for the movie called 'Double Face in the year 1946. He grabbed every opportunity that came his way. He has no qualms in working for B grade and C grade movies.

He got his first break in Malhaar in the year 1956. There was no looking back for him after that. The movie was famous for its popular number Bade Armano Se Rakkha Hae Balam Teri Kasam, one of the brilliant and earliest compositions by Indeevar himself. Bade Armaan Se Rakha Hai Balam Teri Kasam a hit composition of Indeevar has retained its popularity to this date.

The famous music director of the movie was late Roshan, father of Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan. He shot to fame with Babubhai Mistry's musical blockbuster, Parasmani in the year 1963. Over thousand songs have flowed from his pen. This famous Bollywood lyricist has written the lyrics for about 300 films in his career over four decades.

One of the most popular Bollywood lyricists of all time, Indeevar is the creator of major hits in Indian cinema. Zindagi ka safar, Hai yeh kaisa safar Koi samjha nahi from the movie Safar, Dulhan Chali, O Pehen Chali and Koi Jab Tumhara Hriday Tod De from Purab Aur Paschim, Chandan Sa Badan and Main To Bhool Chali Babul Ka Des from Saraswati Chandra, Pal Bhar Ke Liye Koi Hame Pyaar Kar Le from the movie Johny Mera Naam, Bade Armaan Se Rakha Hai Balam Teri Kasam from Malhar and Kasme Vaade Pyaar Wafa from the movie Upkar are some of the greatest compositions of Indeevar ever produced in Hindi cinema.

Indeevar has been the recipient of several prestigious awards. He has received the Filmfare Award as Best Lyricist for Dil Aisa Kisi Ne Mera Toda of Amanush in the year 1975. it was sung by Kishore Kumar. He has produced many such chartbusters in his career of four decades.
