Suraj Barjatiya is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers of Indian cinema. He is an eminent film director of Bollywood. All the films by Suraj Barjatiya are produced under the banner of Rajshri Productions. Rajshri Productions was first established in the year1947 by his grandfather Tarachand Barjatya.

Suraj Barjatiya is recognized as the filmmaker, who has brought new life into Indian cinema. It was during the time when plagiarism and cable television were set to hex its fate. The entire credit mainly goes to Suraj Barjatiya for ingraining in people a freshened love for cinema including some blockbusters such as Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hain. Subhash K Jha assisted the director, who was mainly known for his musical family movies.

Suraj Barjatiya introduced himself as director with Maine Pyar Kiya in the year 1989. This hit film starred Salman Khan and Bhagyasree. It did superb business in Bollywood box office. The film not only helped in booming Suraj`r career, but it also helped hugely in Salman`s career.

After the massive success of Maine Pyar Kiya, Suraj Barjatiya again took Salman Khan as a hero in his film "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun". This film was released in the year 1994 that marked record as one of the all-time blockbusters in Indian Cinema. "Hum Saath-Saath Hain- We Stand United" in 1999 was also a semi-hit.

Suraj Barjatiya has cut an edge above the rest of the directors in Bollywood. After the various successes as producer of Rajshri Productions, Suraj Barjatiya came with a Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor starred movie "Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon". He, himself, was the producer of the same film. However, the movie failed at the box office and was a big flop. After that, he came back as a director with his latest film "Vivah" in the year 2006. This film starred Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao that has proved itself as one of the smash hits in his career and even in Indian Cinema.

Other than these films in Bollywood, Suraj Barjatiya had done another film Ena Pravukal in the year 1991. Though, the film could not made its mark in Indian cinema. Other than being a director and producer, Suraj Barjatiya is also the writer of his films. The stories of all his films are written by him. One of the most important things to notice is that the lead actors of all his films are named `Prem`.

So, Suraj Barjatiya is one of the most successful directors of Bollywood today.
