Sanjay Gadhvi is one of the renowned film directors in Bollywood today. He started his career as an assistant director in the film `Patthar Ke Phool` (1991). His first film as a director was `Tere Liye`, which released in the year 2000. He followed it up with a string of hits which has established him a successful film maker in the Bollywood film industry.

Sanjay Gadhvi was born on 22nd November 1965. His first directorial venture was made on a moderate budget, starring a number of upcoming actors. The film failed to make a mark at the box office, but the fine direction caught the attention of Aditya Chopra, the associate producer of the Yash Raj Films production house. At that time Sanjay Gadhvi was ready with the script of `Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai`, and was in search of a good producer for the film. Aditya Chopra appreciated his skills of film direction, and agreed to produce the film.

`Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai` released in the summers of 2002. The film starred Uday Chopra, the brother of Aditya Chopra, Jimmy Shergill, and debutante Tulip Joshi. This youthful romantic film, replete with a number of beautiful songs, achieved decent success at the box office.

However, it was with the two films on the `Dhoom` series that Sanjay Gadhvi entered the big league. The film `Dhoom`, released in the year 2004, was one of the biggest blockbusters that year. A film targeted at the youth, `Dhoom` was directed in an extremely slick and stylish manner. With plenty of bike racing, pulsating music, and mind blowing action sequences in place, the film was liked by the audiences. It had an ensemble cast starring Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol, and Rimi Sen. But it was John Abraham, playing a negative role, who was the real show stealer in the film.

Sanjay Gadhvi next directorial venture was `Dhoom - 2`, which released in the year 2006. Contrary to people`s expectations, this film had a fresh plot, though a few characters of the first film of the series were retained. The lead role in this film was played by Hrithik Roshan, with Aishwarya cast opposite him. Sanjay Gadhvi directed this film equally well, with a lot of finesse. `Dhoom - 2` was the highest grossing film of 2006.

The latest film directed by Sanjay Gadhvi is `Kidnap.` This film is expected to release in the year 2008. One of the best film makers in Bollywood, Sanjay Gadhvi is expected to make even greater films in the future.
