Born on 7th April, 1962 Ramgopal Verma is a famous Indian film director and writer. He is also a remarkable film producer from Andhra Pradesh. The director is also known for making some successful films like Shiva, Gayam, Rangeela, Satya, Company and Sarkar. Ramgopal Verma was born to Krishnam Raju and Suryamma. In his school life was not very good in studies.
From a very early age he developed interest in films and use to watch both American and Indian cinema regularly. Ultimately he decided to lave studies for starting his career as a film director.
Ramgopal Verma started his career in Hyderabad film industry as a production assistant for the films like Raogarillu and Collectorgari Abbai produced by S.S.Creations. Verma`s debut movie was Shiva, which was a crime drama. Later he directed few other movies like Kshana Kshanam, Raatri, Antham and finally Govinda Govinda. After few years he started his own production company, with the name Varma Corporation Limited and under it produced several Telgu films like Money, Money Money, Gulabi and Wife of Mr. Vara Prasad.
In Bollywood Ramgopal Verma gave his first commercial success Rangeela a romantic drama starring Urmila Matondkar and Amir Khan. After this movie Verma released another big venture Satya. The movie was made based on Mumbai underworld. His most successful movie that made a remarkable impact on Indian viewer was Company which was also set against the Mumbai underworld. As a director his next commercial success was Sarkar released in June 2005, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. In Sarkar Verma cast Amitabh Bachchan for the character of Sarkar who is a self righteous and powerful politician.
The most recent film released by Ramgopal Verma was Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, which was a critical and finance failure. Ram Gopal Verma is basically a media shy person who avoids interviews and media attention. He lives alone in Mumbai and has a huge fan following in Andhra Pradesh.

For his much acclaimed directions Verma also won several awards. He won the Nandi award for Best Director forthly for `Shiva`, `Kshana kshanam` and `Prema Katha`. He won the best director award in Bollywood for four times for his movies like Satya, Jungle, Company and Bhoot. Recently Ramgopal Verma was very much in discussion for making Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, a remake of the Bollywood Classic Sholay.
