Nagesh Kukunoor is one of the most talented and distinguished film makers and actors of Bollywood. The noted actor and film maker does not follow the traditional path of film making. He is widely known for his unusual style of film making. Nagesh Kukunoor is highly acclaimed for making crossover movies in which he generally employs "Hinglish", a mixture of Hindi and English dialogues.

Nagesh Kukunoor was born on 30th March, 1967. After completing his education, he took up the profession of chemical engineering. He had to soon leave the profession of chemical engineering only to switch over to the profession of environment consultant in Atlanta. Then, he was allured towards his cherished desire of making a film. His first venture as a film maker was the immensely successful "Hyderabad Blues."



Nagesh had conceptualized the film all alone and he had ventured out to make the film "Hyderabad Blues" with the money which he had saved out of his income. He had written, produced and directed the film himself. The talented young man has even played an impressive role in his debut film. The film proved to be an immense hit and Nagesh shot to fame instantly. The other manifestation of his varied talent is a short film called "One Culture at a Time." The film was also single handedly made by Nagesh. He had wrote, directed and co-produced the film.

"Hyderabad Blues" left its mark as the largest grossing low budget Indian film which is made in English. The immense success of the film is also remarkable due to the fact that it was not made as a commercial film. Despite the fact, the film broke all success records and registered a huge profit paving the way for Nagesh for yet another venture.

The commercial venture of Nagesh Kukunoor was "Bollywood Calling." The outstanding film is supposed to be the most important and ambitious project of this promising young talent. The lead character in the film was played by Om Puri who is already a recognized face in the international arena with his widely acclaimed films like "City of Joy" and "East is East."

His recent film "Iqbal" also proved to be immensely successful. Apart from accumulating huge revenues at the box office, the film also has been widely acclaimed for its unique subject of cricket, wonderful direction and marvelous acting.

Today, Nagesh Kukunoor is indeed one of the most remarkable directors of the Indian film industry.
