Mahesh Bhatt is one of the famous film directors in India. Being a prominent filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt also written screenplay for several hindi movies. As a producer he also gained huge popularity. Mahesh Bhatt is counted among the leading film makers of Bollywood for his wide range of successful films. Some of his critically acclaimed films are Saaransh, Arth, Naam and Janam. Apart from parallel films, Mahesh Bhatt also written scripts for some commercial films like Duplicate, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and many more. But he is mostly famous for his thriller movies such as Inteha, Murder, Jism and who Lamhe. His films depict a strange conflict with the psychological problem that arise from violation of social norms. He also describes situations which are prominent with profound emotional damage and mental trauma.

Born on 20th September in 1949 in Bombay, Mahesh Bhatt was a child from a reputed Hindu Brahmin family. His father was Nanabhai Bhatt who married to a Shia Muslim girl. Famous actor producer Puja Bhatt is the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt. In his early life, Mahesh dropped out of college to enter the Bollywood film industry.
From that time, he possessed a dream to become a famous film director.

Initially, he was started his career as an assistant director of Raj Khosla who was one of the best Hindi film directors from the decade of 1950`s to 1980`s. At the age of 21 years, Mahesh Bhatt made his first film as a director. The film was known as Sakat (1970). in his later life, he made numerous successful movies which got several awards.

Mahesh Bhatt got success after the release of Arth in 1982. This film seems to be an illustration of his personal life. Later, he made several of Hindi films which are Janam in 1985, Naam in 1986, Saaransh in 1984, Kaash in 1987, Daddy in 1989, Swayam in 1991, Awaargi in 1990, Aashiqui in 1990, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin in 1991, Sadak in 1991, Sir in 1993, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke in 1993. in the year 1994, Mahesh Bhatt achieved National Film Award-Special Jury Award for the popular film Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke.

For his strong directorial capability, he bagged several awards. Here you can see some of his major achievements-

Filmfare Best Screenplay Award for the film Arth in 1984
Filmfare Best Story Award for the film Saaransh in 1985
National Film Award - Special Jury Award for the film Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke in 1994
Filmfare Best Story Award for the film Zakhm in 1999.
