Kundan Shah is among the well known directors in Bollywood. He was born in the year 1947. He is a prominent director as well as writer for several famous Indian films. He was a student of the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. He learned direction here and from here he developed an interest for Comedy genre.

The directional debut of this director was Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. This film was a slapstick comedy which was released in the year 1983. He also worked for television. He collaborated with Saeed Akhtar Mirza, Aziz Mirza and many others to become a partner of Iskra (Company). In the years 1985-86 he was busy directing the television series named Nukkad. It was one of the biggest hit television series ever made in India. He directed many serials and after this he took a seven year break. He again came back in 1993 with his film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa.



Kundan Shah is counted among the well known Directors in Bollywood. He has been one of the famous Bollywood directors as well as a writers for several years. Apart from Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, he has directed several films and has even written several of them. In the year 1985 he wrote a thriller named Khamosh which was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. He was then busy producing and writing the most popular television series named Nukkad. After a long absence, Kundan Shah made a come back in Indian Cinema. He wrote as well as directed the movie named Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa in the year 1993.

In the year 2000 Shah directed a hit film named Kya Kehna. This film dealt with a very mature subject and again proved that he is a good Bollywood Film Maker. The main character of this film was played by the well known Indian actress named Preity Zinta. After the success of Kya Kehna, Shah again wrote and directed a movie named Hum To Mohabbat Karega in 2000. Dil Hai Tumhara was written and directed by Kundan Shah. This film had a popular star-cast of actors like Rekha, Mahima Chaudhry, Preity Zinta as well as Arjun Rampal. He also directed a movie named Ek Se Badhkar Ek in the year 2004

He received several awards for his work towards Indian cinema. He received the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. He also bagged the National Film Award or the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director for his first film named Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.

Kundan Shah is one of the reputed film makers in Bollywood today.
