Ashutosh Gowariker is a famous name in the Bollywood film industry. Being a director, Ashutosh Gowariker has made several great films. Apart from his directorial talent, Ashutosh has also shown his talents through his acting. He also wrote scrip and screenplay for his own films. As an Indian director, Ashutosh Gowariker has made only a few films but all of his films got huge succes in the box office. Born on 15th February in 1964, Ashutosh Gowariker originally from Maharashtra in India. In his entire career, Ashutosh is widely renowned as a producer, director, artist, story writer, and playback singer, screenplay writer.

Ashutosh Gowariker began his career by modeling assignments. In this field, his first break was Govind Nihalni`s Lifebuoy commercial. At the beginning of his career, he started acting in films and made his debut in the year 1984 by the Ketan Mehta`s film, Holi. In that period, Ashutosh acted in several television serials like Kachchi Dhoop in 1987, CID, and Circus in 1989.




Some of the movies where Ashutosh Gowariker acted as character artist are Naam in 1986, Chamatkar in 1992, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa in 1993. but as a director, Pehla Nasha was the debut film of Ashutosh. This movie was highly inspired by the famous Hollywood movie, Body Double. This film was not a big success but his second film as a director proved a great hit in the box office. Starring Aamir Khan and Mamta Kulkarni, his second film Baazi released in the year 1995.

The biggest hit of Ashutosh Gowariker released in the year 2001. it was Lagaan, which was the period epic movie starring Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh. For this film Ashutosh got critical acclaim and this film also nominated for an Oscar Academy Award in USA for the Best Foreign Language Film. Moreover, in the year 2004, he directed a film named Swadesh portraying Shahrukh Khan in the leading role. This film was also very popular in the overseas but the Indian box office record was not satisfactory for the film. The recent directorial work of Ashutosh is Jodha-Akbar, which is a period movie featuring Hritik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the leading roles. This film has released in 2008.
