Aditya Chopra belongs to the new genre of directors. Much like the movies of his illustrious father, B. R. Chopra, his movies are out and out clean family entertainers. Aditya Chopra has earned the rare distinction of the youngest ever director to enter the annals of Indian Cinema.

Born into a film family, Aditya was exposed to the world of films at an early age. Viewing his father's films was as much a learning experience. The art of film making gradually took roots in his mind. His creative instincts were sharpened in an atmosphere steeped in films. He began his career as an assistant to Yash Chopra in films like 'Chandni' (1989), 'Lamhe' (1991) and 'Darr' (1993).

Emboldened by his father's encouragement and flair for creativity, Aditya Chopra set out on his own at the young age of 23. His first movie "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" met with resounding success. It became one of the largest grosser in the history of Indian film industry. And he was credited completely for the films stupendous success.



Aditya Chopra's contribution included story, screenplay and dialogue in addition to direction. As expected he won every conceivable award for this film. This included the prestigious President's Gold Medal for the best popular film providing wholesome entertainment. He wrote the screenplay and dialogues of "Dil to Pagal Hai" (1997) that was directed by Yash Chopra.

"Mohabbatein" made in 2000 was his second film that was a worthy successor to his first film. This movie was one of the top grossing films of the year. In 2004, Aditya Chopra donned the mantle of producer. He produced the movies 'Hum Tum' and 'Dhoom', both of which were highly acclaimed and had great commercial success.

He also co-produced and wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues of 'Veer-Zaara' the biggest grosser in 2004. Aditya Chopra went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Story and Best Dialogue for Veer-Zaara. In 2005, his success story continued with full glory. The biggest grosser of the year 'Bunty aur Babli' and 'Salaam Namaste' once again came from his production.

All creative and technical aspects of his films are personally overseen by him. He has set up a formidable team of creative and technical talent. This in-house pool of talent works together on all its future films. With his mature sensitivity in handling of his themes and a sharp sense of creativity and aesthetics Aditya Chopra has a lot to offer to Indian film industry.
