The Cine Artistes Welfare Fund of India CAWFI is a charitable trust founded by NFDC, the National Film Development Corporation. CAWFI offers welfare measures to the cine artistes of yesteryears.They have a number of schemes to help these artists. Objectives

Eligibility
Film Associations in Bollywood like the Cine Artistes Welfare Fund of India extend their services to any actor who has at least 5 films to their credit, and whose income is below Rs.24000 per annum.
Benefits
The Cine Artistes Welfare Fund of India reimburses school and college fees for the education of the legitimate children (2 maximum) of the actors. Eligible cine artistes may apply with the photocopy of the child`s assessment sheet of the last examination. The candidate should pass in the previous year`s examination. The Head Master or Principal should mention the yearly fees to be paid to each applicant. Payment is made through checks which are issued in the name of the educational institution concerned. Assistance to the physically handicapped and scholarships are offered.
Financial Medical Assistance
Eligible cine artistes and their dependents are reimbursed expenses for hospitalization or medical treatment by the Cine Artistes Welfare Fund of India. However, routine check ups or minor ailments are excluded from this scheme. A qualified cine actor who cannot afford to pay their or the dependent`s medical bills, may apply for advance financial assistance.
Financial Emergency Assistance
The Cine Artistes Welfare Fund of India extends financial assistance in case of emergency in the following instances:
- Death of an artiste
- Permanent disablement
- Accidents and mishaps that occur while shooting and disablement
- Other emergencies which warrant financial assistance by the Cine Artistes Welfare Trust
Financial Assistance for Removal of Poverty
Cine artistes who are experiencing bad days due to unemployment or due to any other reason are assisted with Rs. 750 per month. A Cine Artiste should be above 50 and performed at least in 5 films or spent at least 5 years here. Such applications should be recommended by the Union or Association to which the artiste is affiliated. Widows also get a monthly assistance of Rs.750 for a year.
