Rani Mukherjee was born on 21st March, 1978 to a Bengali family in West Bengal in India. Debashree Roy, her maternal aunt, is a popular actess of Bengali movies and Kajol, her cousin, is one of the renowned Bollywood superstars. Sharbani Mukherjee, another cousin of Rani, also appeared in few Hindi Movies. Career of Rani Mukherjee:
After the huge success of 'Biyer Phool', a Bengali Film, Rani Mukherjee stepped into Bollywood with the movie 'Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat' (1996). Though it failed to impress the audience, her acting skills got recognized. After completing her college, she appeared as the leading lady in the movie, 'Ghulaam'. In this movie she starred opposite Aamir Khan. This movie went to become a big hit. Soon, she was flooded with offers from reputed directors. Her next film was 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' with Shahrukh Khan. It is this movie that gave her the recognition, she was eagerly looking for. Though some of her films failed to make expected business, they established Rani Mukherjee as a leading actress in Bollywood.
