Though it failed to impress the audience, her acting skills got recognized. After completing her college, she appeared as the leading lady in the movie, `Ghulaam`. In this movie she starred opposite Aamir Khan. This movie went to become a big hit. Soon, she was flooded with offers from reputed directors. Her next film was `Kuch Kuch Hota Hai` with Shahrukh Khan. It is this movie that gave her the recognition, she was eagerly looking for.
