She is the daughter of the famous Indian film director, Mahesh Bhatt, and is related to the famous Bhatt family of Bollywood. They also own a film production company called Vishesh Films. Pooja Bhatt was born on 24 February, 1972. Her mother's name is Kiran Bhatt. She was also known as Loraine Bright. She is a Scottish Armenian. Pooja Bhatt is also the step daughter of Sony Razdan who is an actress herself. Her cousin Vikram Bhatt is a film director and screen writer. Her cousin Emran Hashmi is another popular Bollywood actor.

Pooja Bhatt made her acting debut at the age of 17 in the year 1989 in the film Daddy. The movie was directed by her father, Mahesh Bhatt. She played a strong character of a daughter in this film. She played the role of a soul-searching teenage girl in an estranged relationship with her alcoholic father. The role of the alcoholic father was played by actor Anupam Kher.



Pooja Bhatt's biggest hit was Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin where she was paired opposite Aamir Khan. This film was a remake of Hollywood classic and Oscar-winning film "It Happened One Night". She got the best female debut award for this film. Presently she is focused on producing and directing films.

Pooja Bhatt acted in many films which were produced and directed by her father, Mukesh Bhatt. She married her long-time boyfriend and a former VJ of Channel V, Munish Makhija aka Udham Singh on August 24, 2003. He now owns a restaurant cum bar in Goa.

Pooja Bhatt was part of many films as an actress. Some of these films include Daddy, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sadak, Prem Deewane, Saatwan Aasman, Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee, Pehla Nasha, Chaahat, Tamanna, Kabhi Na Kabhi, Yeh Pyar Hi To Hai and Everybody Says I'm Fine!

Pooja Bhatt produced a range of films like Tamanna, Dushman, Zakhm, Sur: The Melody of Life, Jism, Paap, Vaada, Rog and Holiday. As a director, she directed films like Paap, Holiday and Dhokha.she also worked as a Production Designer in the films like Jism, Paap and Rog.

Pooja Bhatt was nominated for a number of awards. She won the Filmfare Award for Lux Face of the Year in the year 1991. In the year 2005, she was nominated for Popular Award for Best debuting Director for Paap.
