Nandita Morarji or Namratha Sadhana is popularly known as Nagma. She is a controversial Indian actress who is primarily known for her work in Bollywood and Kollywood. She dominated the Tamil film industry when she started her career. Nagma was born of a Hindu father and a Muslim mother on Christmas Day. She is fluent in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and English. Being a polyglot, she has acted in a broad range of films of different languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Punjabi as well as Marathi.

Nagma`s debut film was Baghi which was a considerable hit. In this film she was paired opposite Salman Khan. After this she acted in a film called "Suhag" along with actors like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan and Karishma Kapoor. This film was also hit during that time. Though she got initial success, she moved to South in order to star in the Telegu Movies. In the south she received appreciation and became a major actor. She was so popular that her fans dedicated a temple in her name.



The film "Kadhalan" was a major hit in the year 1994. In this film Nagma acted with Prabhu Deva. Some of her major hits films in Telugu are Gharana Mogudu with Chiranjeevi, Allari alludu with Nagarjuna and Major Chandrakanth with NTR and Mohan Babu. Some of her other hits in Tamil include Baasha with superstar Rajnikanth and Kadhalan with Prabhu Deva. Kadhalan was the first Tamil movie which dubbed in Hindi and it was renamed as Hum Se Hai Muqabala. During this time she was involved in a relationship with Sharath Kumar, a film actor from South. During this time she was offered glamorous roles but the roles had little substance.

In the year 200, Nagma came back to Mumbai and was trying to be a part of Bollywood. She started getting supporting roles in major hits like Chal Mere Bhai. In this film she worked with her former costars Karisma Kapoor, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt. Though she came back from South, occasionally she did Tamil and Malayalam films. During this time she was again linked with Sourav Ganguli, a story which both of them denied.

Presently, Nagma is a top actor for the Bhojpuri films. In these Bhojpuri films she mainly got the roles of leading lady. She has been paired in a number of films opposite Ravi Kishan. She is known as "the Madhuri Dixit of Bhojpuri cinema,". In the year 2005, she won the Best Actress award at the Bhojpuri Film Awards for her performance in Dulha Milal Dildar.
