Mamta Kulkarni was born on 20th April 1972 in Mumbai and is a former Bollywood Actress. She currently lives in New York City with her husband. She was a part of a number of popular Hindi films. Mamta Kulkarni is popular for doing glamorous roles. Presently she is not a part of any film or ad campaign.

Mamta Kulkarni made her film debut in Bollywood with Hindi movie called Tiranga in 1992. In the year 1993, she was a part of the film called Aashiq Awara. In this film she was paired opposite Saif Ali Khan. It was this film which won her a Filmfare Lux New Face Award. After this, she appeared in more films like Karan Arjun (1995), Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995) and Baazi (1995). All these films did well at the box office. In all these movies, she was the love interest to the leading man of the films. In some of the films she was also a part of glamorous song-and-dance sequences.



Mamta Kulkarni has always regretted being typecast as an item girl. Her luck changed when Rajkumar Santoshi casted her as the female lead in his movie China Gate in 1998. Earlier she did a cameo appearance in his earlier movie called Ghatak. China Gate was an ambitious remake of the famous film "The Magnificent Seven". This film was the finest oppurtunity for her to showcase her acting talent as she was sharing screen space with some of the finest actors of Hindi cinema.

Things did not go well and the relations between Santoshi and Mamta Kulkarni. There were rumors that she was dropped from the movie. The movie was a huge flop when it was finally released. However the item song of the film, "Chamma Chamma" was a huge hit and was filmed on Urmila Matondkar. This film made Urmila Matondkar, a famous actor in Bollywood as well.

Some of the films in which Mamta Kulkarni has played important roles include Tirangaa, Mera Dil Tere Liye, Aashiq Awara, Krantiveer, Waqt Hamara Hai, Betaaj Badshah, Dilbar, Karan Arjun, Kismat, Raja Aur Rangeeli, and Jeevan Yudh. Some of her films including Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum, Devine Temple Khajuraho, Chhupa Rustam: A Musical Thriller and Censor have released after the year 2000. There are various other films in which she has played important roles.
