Dimple Kapadia was born on June 8th, 1958 and is an Indian film actress who has appeared for a number of Bollywood films. She was popular in the film industry for her glamorous looks, sex appeal and challenging roles. Dimple Kapadia has played variety of roles with equal ease spanning from meaty roles of "Bobby" and "Saagar" to serious roles in "Rudaali".

Dimple Kapadia was discovered by Raj Kapoor and she was introduced by him in 1973 in the movie Bobby. She was only sixteen at the time and was paired against Rishi Kapoor. Later on she married Rajesh Khanna, the Hindi film superstar. Despite the enormous success of Bobby, he left the film industry to raise her children.

After she divorced Rajesh Khanna, Dimple Kapadia returned to the film industry in 1985 and played an important role in Saagar. In this film she was once again paired against Rishi Kapoor.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, she appeared in a number of movies. She was praised for her excellent performance in the film Rudaali.

Dimple Kapadia's performance as an alcoholic in Dil Chahta Hai in 2001 was also praised a lot by the critics. In 2005 she once again paired opposite Rishi Kapoor in Pyaar Mein Twist after twenty years of their last on-screen pairing. She was also a part of the English film Being Cyrus in the year 2006. Recently she is opting for major roles.

Dimple Kapadia has played important roles in films like Zakhmi Sher, Manzil Manzil, Saagar, Pataal Bhairavi, Lavaa, Aitbaar, Insaaf, Kaash, Saazish, Bees Saal Baad, Zakhmi Aurat, Prahaar: The Final Attack, Naramsimha, Dil Aashna Hai, Rudaali, Gunaah, Gardish and Krantiveer. There are other films in which she had worked. In the recent times, she has worked in films like Lawaris, Hum Tum Pe Marte Hain, Dil Chahta Hai, Leela, Hum Kaun Hai, Pyaar Mein Twist, Being Cyrus and Banaras - A Mystic Love Story.

Dimple Kapadia was given a number of awards for her excellent performance in various films. In the year 1973 she received the Filmfare Best Actress Award for her debut film, Bobby. In the year 1985, Dimple again won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for Saagar. Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards - Best Actress award was given to her for 'Dristi' in 1991. In the year 1993 she got National Film Awards for Best Actress and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance for Rudaali. In 1994 she received the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for Krantiveer.
