Deepika Padukone, a comparatively new face in Bollywood, has already attained stardom with her first movie, `Om Shanti Om`. Though starring opposite superstar Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone has been able to make a name for herself in Bollywood, with the help of her versatile acting paired up with her stunning looks; the ideal combination to conquer film industry.

Personal life of Deepika Padukone:
Deepika Padukone was born on 5th January, in the year 1986, to Prakah Padukone and Ujjala. Her father is an established badminton player, who has represented India at international competitions and in the year 1980 won the All England Championship. Her mother, Ujjala, is a travel agent. Deepika Padukone shares a special relationship with her sister Anisha. She is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer.. Though she started playing badminton, unlike her father, she was not so keen to pursue a career in badminton, and thus did not conitnue with it.



Modeling career of Deepika Padukone:
Along with pursuing studies, Deepika Padukone stepped into showbiz industry as a model. She has appeared in many advertisements. Deepika is also the Brand Ambassador of `Jewels of India`. She received international recognition with Maybelline, a popular cosmetic company. Deepika Padukone received the `Model of the Year` award and was also the `Playboy Magazine Cover Winner`. She also won the Fresh Face of the Year and Female Model of the Year award. She is the Brand ambassador of Levi Strauss, Kingfisher Airlines and Tissot SA. She was also one of the chosen models of `Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar` for the year 2006.

Acting Career of Deepika Padukone:
She stepped into Bollywood by starring in Naam Hai Tera, a music video by Himesh Reshammiya (one of the well known music director and singer of Bollywood). Her first movie was a Kannada film with Aishwarya and this movie released in the year 2006. Her recent Bollywood venture, Om Shanti Om, is a huge box office success. Her role as Sandy ( a young girl of today`s generation) and yesteryear superstar Shantipriya, has proved her versatility. Her forthcoming ventures include movies of reputed Bollywood directors, such as Siddharth Anand, Pritadarshan`s `Pirate` and Nikhil Advani`s `Chandni Chowk`.

Awards and Nominations received by Deepika Padukone:
Deepika Padukone received the Filmfare Awards for the category of Best Debut Female and also the Star Screen Award for the category of Most Promising Newcomer - Female, in 2008. Among other notable awards, Reebok Zoom Glam Awards as Glam Debuante, is worth a mention.
