Bipasha Basu is considered and acknowledged as one of the sexiest women in Asia. Born on 7th January in Delhi, she comes from a Bengali family. Later on her family moved to Kolkata. She has two siblings. She got introduced in the world of modeling and acting by accident. The entrance to the glamor world was not preplanned. She had planned to study medicine prior to her entry in the world of glitz and glamor. She took up commerce after completing her 12th standard. Though she desired to be a doctor, the idea of dissecting bodies was too much to handle and this finally made her opt for chartered accountancy. In 1996, she met Mehr Jessia in Kolkata, a well known model in her own right who suggested her to consider modeling as a career. She participated in the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel contest and won it. The debut film of Bipasha Basu was "Ajnabee", which eventually won the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for her performance in the film. In her next film which was a thriller, named "Raaz", she sizzled on screen and played her character quite well. The movie was a big hit at the box office and the songs were chartbusters for quite sometime. For the film she received her first Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare. Besides having a full fledged career in films, she even did a famous video for the album of Sonu Nigam. She made several other guest appearance too in many other music videos. In 2006, her popularity soared heights with her item number Beedi in the song Omkara. The song became a national craze and her performance in the song was appreciated a lot.
