Amrita Singh is one of those few Bollywood actresses, who is still working in movies, at an age of fifty. She started her acting career at quite an young age and had carried out a variety of roles, right from comic to romantic. Amrita Singh has a number of successful films to her credit. These films received box office success as well as critical acclaims. She has played the role of daughter, wife, mother; and she has been successful in playing each and every role quite efficiently.
Personal life of Amrita Singh:
Amrita Singh was born on 9th February, 1958, to a Punjabi Sikh family in a village in Hadali, which is in present day Pakistan. She comes from a rich cultural background. Her father, Shivinder Singh was in army and her mother, Rukhsana Sultana, was a well known socialite, better known for her political activism during Emergency Era. Amrita's grandfather, Sir Sobha Singh, received knighthood and her paternal grand uncle, Khushwant Singh, is an eminent writer. In the year 1991, she decided to give up her acting career in order to devote time to family as she got married to Saif Ali Khan. She has two children, son Ibrahim and daughter Sara. After the separation of the couple in 2004, Amrita Singh now lives alone with her two children.

Amrita Singh stepped into Bollywood with 'Betaab' in 1983. In thsi film, she starred oppsite Sunny Deol. They were paired together in a number of films, following the success of 'Betaab'. A few popular films of Amrita Singh are 'Saaheb', 'Mard', 'Naam', 'Chameli Ki Shaadi', 'Khudgarz', 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman'and 'Aaina'. Recently her role in 'Shootout At Lokhandwala', has been widely appreciated, where she plays the mother of a gangster. 'Kalyug', is another movie, which reflects acting talent. In this movie, she has played the character of a person,. Who rules the pornographic industry. Apart from films, she has also been praised for her role in 'Kavyanjali', a popular Hindi television serial.
