Mandira Shukla is a renowned costume designer who has made a name for herself in Bollywood. Her creativity and expertise can be amply witnessed in the film "Godmother" which was her first stint in designing for Bollywood. Currently she has designed for Yash Raj Film's Chak De India as well as Aaja Nachle acted by Madhuri Dixit. This is considered as a comeback film for Madhuri Dixit..

Mandira Shukla has been one of the notable Bollywood fashion designers. Her greatest achievement was costume designing for the entire hockey team of Chak De India. As she herself recounts, it had been one of the most challenging experiences. Mandira Shukla had done a lot of research work coming back and forth from Melbourne for the film. She attended a number of women's hockey matches as well as researched on the Internet since she had no idea of sports wear. Later with the advice of Jaideep Sahni, the writer she agreed to imbibe the details from the Jharkhandi girl's hockey team. After she gathered ample experience she was able to design track suits and tee shirts with relative ease. She has been responsible for preparing a docket for the whole film including the jacket for Shah Rukh Khan.

One of the top fashion designers in Bollywood, Mandira Shukla has also designed clothes for the team of Fanaa. However Aamir Khan and Kajol had separate personal designers. In the process, she had to face a few obstacles. For example, she had designed a western outfit for Rishi Kapoor though later she had to change them for Kashmir pherans and pathani suits. Her excellence was proved with the costume designing at Godmother which has her father, Vinay Shukla's film. She had to do extensive research for this film in Porbunder to ultimately come up with the look of Shabana Azmi in the film. For this, she got the Zee-Cine Award for Best Costumes.

As far as her personal style statement is concerned, Mandira Shukla believes that fashion can be best experienced through comfort. She also speaks of the liberties that are sometimes taken in the designing of film costumes. In Mira Nair's Kamasutra for instance, she was asked to prepare 80 kali-ghaghras even though the film was based at a time when there were no sewing machines. To moderate this discrepancy she worked on natural vegetable colors of browns and greens. Facts about Mandira Shukla also inform that she has expressed her talent for costume designing in films like Cactus, Khushi, Shakthi: The Power, Veer Zaara, Samar, Gudia and others.
