In 1975 a Hindi romantic comedy film was released which introduced to the Indian film an excellent reel life couple, Arun & Prabha, Chhoti Si Baat. The film is one of the best Hindi comedy films of the 70s. The movie has earned a marked recognition and is a nostalgic favorite for its peculiar themes on the congestion of Bombay. Arun & Prabha, Chhoti Si Baat is a renowned movie of its time.
Chhoti Si Baat is a film that established Amol Palekar as an uncommon comic talent. He lacks self-confidence and fails to stand up for convictions. In this endearing, lovable film a romantic story is reflected and Arun & Prabha are the central characters. The story revolves around him falling in love with Prabha Narayan after catching a glimpse of her. Unfortunately he lacks enough courage to approach her and struggled in discomfort. The interesting twist comes when Prabha fully becomes aware of his affections and secretly relishes the fact while waiting for the first move.
Arun seems hopelessly stuck and adding to his helplessness, Nagesh Shastri appears on the scene. Nagesh also becomes a serious rival for Prabha's attention. Nagesh seems to be far ahead of Arun in every sphere of life. He is sociable, confident as well as assertive and has enough opportunities to offer win over Prabha. In desperation Arun turns to Colonel Julius Nagendranath Wilfred Singh for help.
The colonel begins to mould Arun into a matured, confident and serious young man. After a makeover Arun returns to Bombay with a distinguished conceit, brimming with newly discovered self-esteem, ready to propose Prabha. The reel couple Arun & Prabha in Chhoti Si Baat is among the superstars who were known to perform excellent romantic roles. They had the best chemistry and the duo gave the Indian film industry one of the biggest hit through this cinema.
Their chemistry was really praiseworthy and they portrayed the society in general. Amol Palekar and Vidya Sinha created splendid reel romance. They had the magic of keeping the audience glued to the silver screen. The romance of Arun & Prabha, Chhoti Si Baat is very innocent and endearing.
