It was when he switched to television that he became a household name. His most popular serial was `Karamchand Jasoos`, a detective-comedy also starring Shushmita Mukherjee. He played lead roles in other popular TV serials, like `Kab Tak Pukaroo`, `Zabaan Sambhaal Ke`, `Lifeline` with Vijaya Mehta, `Neem ka Ped` and comic interludes in `Philips Top 10`.

Pankaj Kapoor is also renowned for his directorial skills. He has done over 74 plays and serials. These include Mohandas B.A.L.L.B, Wah Bhai Wah, Kanak Di Balli, Panchvan Savaar, Sahabji Biwiji Ghulamji and Drishtanth, and Albert`s Bridge.

Supriya Pathak is daughter of famous actress Dina Pathak. Her career began with the critically acclaimed film Kalyug in 1981. This was followed by roles in many more critically acclaimed films such as Vijeta, Bazaar, Masoom and Mirch Masala. She also acted in several television serials.

In 1984 Supriya Pathak married Pankaj Kapoor. The couple has a son named Ishaan Kapoor.
