Nokia has played an important role in the growth of mobile technology in India. Nokia has established itself as brand and market leader in the mobile devices market in India. Presently, Shah Rukh Khan is the brand ambassador for Nokia phones.

In the year 1995, Nokia started its operations in India. Nokia India operates currently from New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The manufacturing plant is at Chennai and the research and development facilities of the company are at Bangalore. : Nokia is the leading brand in Indian Market. Nokia was named as the Brand of the Year in the year 2005 and has won Golden Peacock Award in the year 2004 for Nokia model number 1100. In the year 2007 it has won fourth rank in the Most Trusted Brand Survey by Brand Equity. The first vernacular news portal of Nokia was introduced in the year 2007 in India.

Top five GSM operators including Bharti, Hutchison, IDEA, BPL and BSNL has Nokia as a key supplier. For the years 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004, Nokia India has been ranked as the as the number one telecommunications equipment vendor in the country by Voice and Data.

For the last 10 years Shah Rukh Khan has been a Nokia phone user. He is recently using Nokia E90. Nokia`s Mobile Phone AD with Shah Rukh Khan has hit the web before television. Nokia Phone Manufacturer Company is planning to launch the television commercial first. The television commercial would be followed by the print advertisements later.

Different product lines are roping more and more Bollywood stars. Nokia Mobile Phone has roped Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. Nokia India is coming up with an advertising campaign featuring the Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh Khan who is known as a gadget freak is the brand ambassador for Nokia India. As Shah Rukh Khan tops the endorsement list in Indian Market so he was the chosen one by Nokia. According to Nokia Marketing team King Khan`s image is considered as the perfect blend of youth and technology.

The latest Airtel AD video with King Khan was shot by Pradeep Sarkar the director of Parineeta and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag. Shah Rukh Khan has devoted eight hours for the whole shoot. Simultaneous sets were erected in the same studio to make maximum usage of the alloted eight hours. The AD features seven different places such as living room, railway station, baby room, Red carpet premiere, hotel promenade, discotheque and balcony with the city skyline view.

Nokia is considered as one of the successful brands endorsed by Bollywood Stars.
