Ford Fiesta is endorsed in India by Abhishek Bachchan. This is a super-mini car designed and built by Ford Europe. Ford Europe is a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. This particular car is again considered as one of the most successful cars of the Ford Company. This is because more than ten million people ride this car. The Ford Company has started its production from the year 1976 and is still continuing in 2008.

Ford Fiesta is being marketed all over the world including Japan, Australia, India, South Africa, Venezuela, Canada, Mexico and other important countries.

This particular car was launched keeping in mind the demand of the consumers for a super-mini car. There is no doubt that you will simply enjoy riding this car.

Ford launched a number of cars before Fiesta. In 1970, its smallest model till date Escort came to market. Following the traditional pattern the Escort had a front-engine and was a rear wheel drive car like the Fiat 127 and Renault 5. But energy crisis in the year 1973 increased the demand for smaller cars. This craze brought Vauxhall, Mini and Hillman Imp into the market. Ford needed a small car to compete in this emerging market. After much research Ford invented a new modern small car. A number of names like Amigo, Bambi, Bravo, Bolero, Bebe, Cherie, Tempo, Chico, Fiesta, Forito and others.

Though a number of votes went in favor of Bravo yet Henry Ford II personally overruled and named the car "Fiesta". The name Fiesta belonged to General Motors at the time but still there wasn't much problem and the name was freely given for Ford to use on their new small car. Thus Ford Fiesta made a grand entry in 1975.

When the car first came to the market it followed tradition with an end-on four-speed manual transmission mounted to a new version of the Ford Kent OHV engine. Yet Fiesta became a runaway success overnight. Minor revisions appeared across the range in late 1981. These improvements were made to maintain the showroom appeal and also to compete with Mk2. The Mk2 Fiesta appeared towards the end of summer 1983. This was followed by the Ford Fiesta Mk2 XR2. But the popularity of Fiesta gained momentum with the introduction of Ford Fiesta Mk3. Year 2008 will see a truly global vehicle in Mk7 Ford Fiesta.
