And now, there is a new addition to this list. In a bid to give itself a more lively and vigorous outlook and image, BSNL incorporated Preity Zinta as their brand ambassador.

Preity Zinta has appeared in numerous Hindi movies of Bollywood as well as a number of Telugu and English language movies. A criminal psychology graduate, the beautiful actress made her acting debut in `Dil Se` in 1998, followed by the movie `Soldier` in the same year. She won a Filmfare award for Best Female Debut Award for both the films and was later recognized for her marvelous performance as a teenage single mother in `Kya Kehna`. In addition to acting, she is also a columnist and a regular stage performer. She has written several columns for BBC News Online South Asia.

BSNL, with a subscriber base of over 5 crores, wants to cast off the typical PSU image that it carries and wants to be seen as a lively and unique brand in the market. The PSU has a little over 3 crores fixed line users and 2.44 crores mobile users. It has a market share of 22.13 % in the mobile segment. BSNL made contract with Preity Zinta in order to popularize their brands.
