Starring Cricketers in Bollywood Movies is one of the recent trends in Bollywood. Cricket and Bollywood have often been associated with glamour and fame. Both these fields share a unique bond between themselves. Cricket has inspired Bollywood in ways more than one. Similarly Bollywood has been a source of inspiration for cricketers. This trend is apparent in the present day Hindi films. Many Indian and worldwide Cricketers in Bollywood Movies have made their appearance in many films.
Kapil Dev, the owner of the ICL or the Indian Cricket League, appeared in more than one films. He was seen in the films like 'Iqbal' and 'Mujhse Shaddi Karogi'. 'Sathi' is one of the most popular film that caste Mohsin Khan. Mohsin Khan appeared in this film along with actors like Aditya Pancholi, Varsha Usgaonkar, Kader Khan and Asrani.
Salil Ankola who was a part of the Indian cricket team for Cricket World Cup 1996 is one of the most popular Cricketers in Bollywood Movies. He was seen in the movie 'Kurukshetra' along with Sanjay Dutt. Salil Ankola also enacted in the film 'Chura Liya Hai Tumne' that starred Esha Deol and Zayed Khan.
'Khel' directed by Yusuf Khan starred Jadeja, one of the famous cricketers who was known for his cool looks and soothing smile. He appeared in the movie together with actors like Celina Jaitley, Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Mohan Joshi and others.
We have seen directors making films drawing inspiration from sports. Several directors have made movies on cricket or on life of cricketers. Shoaib Akhtar who is often called 'Rawalpindi Express' of Cricket is likely to enter Bollywood. Shoaib loves watching Bollywood movies and keeps a track of all the Bollywood releases. Reports say that the cricketer has been offered role in a Bollywood film. Though Shoaib has not yet agreed to work in the film, he is quiet excited with the whole matter. Mahesh Bhatt offered the title role of the hit movie "Gangster" to Shoaib Akhtar but later it was done by Shiney Ahuja.
