Binod Pradhan, whose real name is Binod Kumar Pradhan, is one of the best known Bollywood cinematographers. He is a man who is known for weaving magic through his lenses.

Binod Pradhan was born in Kalimpong in the state of West Bengal in India. His real name is Binod Kumar Pradhan. He had grown up seeing the grand Kanchenjunga Mountain with all its changing colors and beauty. It is this very sight that had inspired him to become a cinematographer.

His father used to work in a photo studio and presented little Binod a camera with which he used to take snaps of blooming rose buds or the misty foggy mountain of Kanchenjunga. In his works you will find a nice blending of various colors. Binod Pradhan has done a course from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.



In the critically acclaimed movie Rang De Basanti, cinematographer- Binod Pradhan received much applauds and fame for his cinematography. Along with the brilliant performance of such noted Bollywood actors like Amir Khan and Soha Ali Khan, the cinematography of the movie is definite worth a mention.

Binod Pradhan has started his career with the well known music videos director Girish Mallik. He also did a number of commercials for television, the most known being the Coca Cola advertisement with actor Raima Sen.

Binod Pradhan is unarguably one of the best cinematographers of the time. Whether it is the beautiful love-making scene between Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor in the film Parinda, or the sweeping images of 1942... A Love Story, he creates poetry with his camera.
