Procedure of admission to SRFTI, Kolkata
For all the three courses in SRFTI, Kolkata in India other than audiography, a candidate must be a graduate in any discipline. For audiography, the candidate must have studied physics as one of the subjects at the + 2 level apart from being a graduate in any discipline. Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination. Entrance examination is held in two stages and comprises of a written examination and an Interactive Orientation Session and Viva Voce. The written examination comprises two papers. The first paper is on general knowledge and mental aptitude. The duration of the examination is of an hour. The second paper aims at judging the aptitude of the candidate on his chosen field. Only the students who have qualified for the written examination are called for the interview.

The regional office of the National Film Archives of India is situated within premises of the institute itself, which provides an opportunity to the students to view the films owned by the archive. Besides, there are different student exchange programs held in the institute. There is a multi purpose auditorium as well as an open theater at the campus.
