Two reasons why my entry might be disqualified,1. I am not from a womens college and 2. My role model is male. That apart I just felt I must share my admiration for my role model and the reason why I find him fit for this write-up. The poster on my room walls has been the same since 1994; I must have been 9 years old then. God to many, hero to others, idol to even his colleagues, Sachin Tendulkar is my choice for a young celebrity who is a role model for all youngsters, aspiring to achieve. It was cricket world cup co-hosted India, Pakistan and Srilanka. Though India made it only till the semis, for me the most eventful happening was it made me identify my role model. Though initially I liked him for mundane reasons such as he drank the same health drink that I did and carried a fancy bat, as I later learnt more about him I was justified in choosing him my role model. He has single handedly become the youth and sporting icon of India, young and old, men and women alike.

First is the fact that age is no barrier for achievements. This gawky teenager made his debut against Pakistan, a match which gave him an injured nose and pitiful runs. Just see where he stands now.

Second stands out his sheer courage in taking the road less travelled. When most middle-class teenagers would have preferred to settle for good marks and a decent job- what is otherwise called a settled life and a secure future, Sachin dared to bet on his talent and even change schools for the purpose.

Another characteristic of his that motivates me is his polite and humble demeanor. The man doesnt utter a single word unnecessarily. All the success has not made him haughty or arrogant unlike so many other celebrities who think controversy is a only way to stay in news. He doesnt forget his roots and still lives in the old housing board apartment where he lived as a child.

Love for his family and the pride of playing for country has always been a Sachin factor all his fans love and adore about him. Within two days after his fathers demise during the world cup of 1999 he returned to score 140 runs against Kenya dedicating them to his father.Last but not the least comes the peaks he has reached and continues to scale everyday. Trouble makers pose a new obstacle everyday and Sachin moves on with the same quite charm. He takes everything in his stride and never fuels any issue. Left with nothing but the job of breaking his own records, he just proves that success is not just a journey but a destination. These probably are just the top five of the things I adore about Sachin Tendulkar and can relate to as a woman of today.
