Going Green While Eating Out

Im cursing myself for having forgotten my resolve to go green. My friend had come from Mumbai. Some of us met at a restaurant, opting for buffet lunch. When a fellow was about to go for a second helping with plate in hand, another asked why he wanted to take the same plate. He complied and brought his food in a fresh plate. We followed suit and did the same.
Now when I think of it Im unable to forgive myself. Id used six plates. When I go with my family we use two plates each, including for the dessert. I might say that I got carried away in the conversation and forgot to use the same plate. But deep inside I know its not true. We were meeting after two decades, and I didnt want others to think that I lacked in restaurant etiquette.
At any given time, the buffet caters to a minimum of fifty people. Even if thirty used five plates instead of two, it would mean an additional 150 plates. Imagine the amount of water, electricity and soap which will add to the sewage load that couldve been saved. This is to remind myself and others that even a small action has an impact on the environment. Lets be conscious.
