In the year 2008 is it relevant to ask whether women are discriminated against? Or have women reached where they really wanted to and acquired equality in more ways than one? I feel discrimination against women starts the first year after college graduation when a woman steps into the real ( or corporate) world
Having graduated, I find men have more authority and supervisory roles than their female counterparts. Every pay cheque only widens the gap. Career women are finding it more and more difficult to catch up Women often ignore theyre being discriminated against, since employees ( moreso female employees) rarely discuss earnings with one another.
It took me over 8 years to realize. And I belong to the educated variety, who finally gave up the job and started out as an entrepreneur. At least in my own business, I thought, no one can discriminate against me because I am a woman! For several women equal pay for equal work is a mega concern. But when will it ever become a reality? I am a lot happier being my own boss!
