Home Business it was a dream for me as many other women. I had a wonderful career abroad as an employee. Wherever I worked, the employers were very satisfied because of my dedication. But at one point of time in life, like many other women, I had to quit job due to family circumstances.As the children were growing, I was nurturing the thought of starting a business of my own. But there were many factors like, small children, lack of time, no domestic help, etc., etc., holding me from realizing my dream.

A couple of years ago, when I returned to Chennai with my children to settle down here, I found a lot of business opportunities. My desire to start a business grew stronger. I knew I wanted to start one, but I didnt know what to start! Amazing! I started analyzing myself. I realized that I am not good at marketing. Then what else to do? I considered partnership with existing business houses. I did not come across anyone who would take me as a partner. Offers to take up senior positions were coming to me.. But I was turning them down, as I felt that I cannot do a 9-5 job any more.

While I was watching a tamil TV channel, the announcement about Womens day celebration attracted me. I decided to attend this function along with some friends. After the usual inaugural address, etc., they introduced successful women entrepreneurs and each one of them shared their experience with the audience. I was very much attracted by the simplicity and plainness of one of the directors of a popular recruiting company.This is it! I told myself.. This is my line. I recalled so many instances when people had asked me to refer candidates for their vacancies. I had contact with good number of people and within a day or two I could find the right candidate. For this, I have never received any monetary benefit. But this made me realize that I have the talent to identify the right candidate for the right post. Besides, the capital of this business is people and perseverance. I can work at my own pace from home. I can help deserving candidates land in good jobs, etc.When I told my decision to my family members they welcomed my idea. My elder daughter came out with the apt name Connect Consultants, as the business is connecting people. My younger one came out with a wonderful logo. Within a month Connect Consultants for placement and training came into existence. I was excited when my first assignment was to place a HR manager for a big group of companies. That time my data base was not very strong. Yet, I took it as a challenge and started fishing for the right candidate. Finally, I found a wonderful candidate from a neighboring state to fill that post. Even though I have drawn higher salaries, I cant forget the thrill I experienced while receiving the first cheque. I spent the whole amount on charity, as I had made a vow to do so.

There is excitement in this business and it is rewarding too. Right now it is a typical home business. The table where my PC is placed turns into my office when I work. There is no fixed time. My timings are flexible. I hope to grow in the coming years and to carve a niche in the field of recruitment.
