Chocolate mousse is the ideal dessert which you can serve in a party. It is delicious and creamy and its chocolate, and tastes absolutely heavenly. It is a French recipe which came into popularity in the year 1960s in North America. There are many types of chocolate mousse prepared but the original version has bittersweet chocolate and egg yolks in them. To make the mousse will be very easy if you know how to make custard. You would need the following ingredients: 200 grams bittersweet chocolate, 4 egg yolks, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2 cups of heavy cream.
You would need to heat 2/3 cup of cream slowly over low flame till it starts to steam. In a bowl whisk sugar and egg yolks together after which add half of the hot cream and continue to whisk. Add this mixture to the hot cream and again cook over low fire. While doing so you need to constantly stir. After removing from the heat stir constantly and put in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract. Then put it for chilling in the freezer. Then you would need to beat the left 1 and 1/3 cups of cream until it stiffens a bit. Then stir thoroughly cup of the whipped cream in the cold custard and then slowly put in the remaining cream. Serve chilled. You can garnish it with a cherry or a fresh mint sprig.
