In a beautiful departure from her earlier works, Jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali presents a new collection of heirloom jewels inspired by the myriad forms and motifs of nature. The three dimensional forms and shapes of nature take centre-stage in this collection. A dancing peacock unfurling his feathers in an exotic dance, a curled cock shell resplendent in be jewelled glory, a coiled serpent bathed in gemstones in the colours of the rainforest, a rose in full bloom with soft petals, a butterfly on a flower- Farah s newest inspirations remind one of nature thats always in motion and yet balanced with its surroundings.
In Farahs words, "My designs are flamboyant, ornate and adventurous. I believe jewellery should make you feel like a princess when you wear it, no matter how big or small the piece of jewellery is, it should be eye catching and make the wearer feel special". The unconventional designer recently showcased her line of jewellery at the IIFA in Macao where sister Suzanne Khan Roshan walked with her superstar hubby Hrithik Roshan, both dazzling in Farahs pieces symbolic of eternal love.
Its nice to have one of the most expensive couple walk free for you", laughed Farah, "but I dont look at them that way... Suzzane is the face of my brand and I wanted Hrithik to accompany her because they have never walked together. They are an epitome of love for many, and me too, since they are family to me."
Hrithik had worn a pendant that represented a falcon surging his wings in air to fly made out of blue sapphire, diamond, yellow gold while Suzzane looked bridal in a neck pieces made out of emerald and diamonds- a symbol of love, wealth and health. Coloured precious gemstones such as emeralds, rubies, rubelites, tanzanites, sapphires, spinels, yellow and blue diamonds dazzle in their unusual setting. The collection comprises of Necklaces, Earrings, Bracelets, Cuffs, Rings, Brooches and Pendants that have multi-purpose wear options.
Before signing off Farah was honest enough to accept that Recession was the inspiration behing churning out this affordable line which starts at Rs. 50,000. "Lifestyles have always influenced trends. In these troubled times, I wanted to make statement pieces that are affordable yet not extravagant. It s my way of making people feel happy!
