What kind of person are you? Picturing yourself as an ordinary kitchen ingredient may help you to determine your style.
Imagine that you submerge a carrot, an egg and a coffee bean in a cup of boiling water. The carrot enters the water strong and hard unrelentingbut becomes soft and mushy. The egg is fragile, with a thin shell protecting a liquid interior, but it emerges hardboiled. The coffee bean, however, doesnt changeit changes the water around it, making it rich and strong.
I have been an egg for a very long time now - A cold egg. I am slowly working my way up to coffee beans, becoming the bean that I used to be when I was younger before all the bad and the bitterness, but it is a difficult journey and for me, being the egg is easier. It is easier for me to keep people out and be alone and do my own thing than it is for me to depend on anybody else for anything!! The bean is my goal and I am working on it, making changes in my life to get me where I need to be!
What about you? What are YOU going to be like when life heats up?
Soft Carrots
Hard boiled Eggs
Permeating coffee
In difficult circumstances, like being thrown into boiling water, will you get softer, or harder, or change the world around you?
Are you going to be the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity wilts and become soft and loses strength?
Are you going to be the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Will a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, make you hardened and stiff? Will your shell look the same, but on the inside be bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?
Or are you going to be like the coffee bean that actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain by releasing fragrance and flavor. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest will you elevate yourself to another level and change the situation around you?
Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
