A few tips to dispel the gloom and bring about a glow. Indian women are at an advantage. Good, youthful skin is in their genes. So all they need is a little help and maybe a few changes in their lifestyle.
- The main ingredient for a glowing skin is water, water and more water. Drink as much water as you sensibly can. Hydrate your skin from the inside. Incidentally, mixing water with tea, coffee or liquor doesn`t count. You need it in its unadulterated form. Pure, pure water.
- Cut down your intake of coffee and tea to the bare limit. They act as a diuretic and send the water out of the body.
- Too much alcohol dehydrates the body. And will leave it shrivelled and dry in the long run. It also hastens the ageing process.
- Avoid hot water baths. Another dehydrating agent. If the weather is cold, try lukewarm water. That works best towards a healthy skin.
- Use a moisturiser regularly. Change it depending on the weather. You need a lighter one when the weather is warm. The cold weather could dry out your skin. Use a heavier, creamy moisturiser at these times.
- If you have extra dry spots on your body, like dry elbows, knees, feet and hands, use extra cream there.
- A well balanced diet always helps. Plenty of fruits, vegetables, milk and grains will work towards a healthy skin.
- Exfoliate your skin regularly. The old, dry, dead cells need to be removed and the youthful skin underneath brought to the fore. But overdoing the exfoliation can hurt your skin. If you have dry skin or live in a cold climate, you need to take care and not use a harsh granular product.
- Smoking works havoc on your skin. It literally strangles it. Smoking constricts the oxygen in your capillaries and restricts the blood flow to your skin. And sets in a rapid ageing process.
- Sleep is a vital ingredient to good skin. Skin replenishes itself while you sleep. So the more you sleep....
