Stretch marks. They really don't go away once they've made their presence felt. The best way to deal with them is to prevent them from happening, or, nip them in the bud.
  • Start treating stretch marks when they first begin to appear. They are easier to treat at that stage. They appear as raised reddish brown marks to begin with.
  • Once they start fading, they become embedded into your skin. It is then near impossible to get rid of them without plastic surgery or laser treatment.
  • Massage your breasts, abdomen and thighs with a rich moisturising cream daily during pregnancy. This keeps the skin supple.
  • Eat foods that are rich in vitamin C, E, zinc and silica. This helps the formation of collagen in your body.
  • Over seventy five percent of pregnant women develop stretch marks during the third trimester.
  • Adolescents too sometimes, get stretch marks. It could be the result of a growth spurt and sudden weight gain.
  • Athletes and body builders who practise strenuous and repetitive exercises are also likely to get stretch marks.
