How far should I extend my foundation?Colour should not stretch past your jaw (or into your hairline). If you've blended well and used the right shades, you won't see any lines of demarcation. My foundation contains sunscreen. Do I need extra protection?Yes! You only use a small amount of foundation - and sometimes only in specific areas-so you'll need to first apply moisturiser with sunscreen (at least SPF 15).

What Your Make Up Says About You

  • If you prefer light make-up, for eg., just a dab of rouge on your cheeks and a tint of colour on your lips, you are supposed to be shy. And you very rarely gather the courage to reveal what's on your mind. You are easily tired and need to sleep a lot.
  • If you go heavy on make-up, you are considered an aggressive person, who sometimes masks her insecurities underneath that war paint.
  • Caked make-up means a dramatic personality. A flamboyant person, who wants to be as free as the breeze with no responsibilities to tie her down.
  • A no make-up person is considered independent and imaginative. The ordinary womanly pursuits are not her cup of tea. But, when she does dress up occasionally, she'll floor everybody with her charm and grace.

Find the Right Colour

  1. Find the colour that most closely resembles your skin tone. Stand as close to a window as you can and match the bottle color to your cheek.
  2. Always go for brown-based foundations (those that brighten skin, rather than making it look sallow). Why? Brown-based foundations neutralise blue and red tones and blend beautifully into every skin colour (including African-American and Asian).
  3. Stick with brown-based concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin (if a concealer blends perfectly with your skin, the way foundation should, it won't cover anything).
  4. Set your makeup with translucent or coloured powder that matches your foundation. Beware: Not all kinds of translucent powder are colourless.
