If you have recently undergone a plastic surgery, your surgeon must have provided you a long list of instructions to be followed after the procedure. Since the healing after a cosmetic procedure takes time you should follow all instructions given by your doctor for avoiding complications. Well, the care tips and instructions vary as per the patient circumstances and type of the plastic surgery. In most of the cosmetic procedures, a specific time is dedicated for rest and care so that the recovery process can be accelerated. To avoid complications, surgeons inform patients well before the procedure about the recovery time, how long they should expect out of work, and safety instructions. Some common care tips that would be suggested for any type of cosmetic surgery are listed below:
- Pain and numbness in the operated area are associated factors of surgery and these factors will disappear after a certain time. Your doctor must have prescribed you some drugs to keep the pain and other associated factors in control. Make sure that you take your medicines on time.
- Sleep well and take proper rest post operation. Don't engage in physical activities such as lifting heavy objects or performing any other physical tasks as they may prove harmful to the operated part. Your doctor must have advised you for not resuming your work for a certain time. Take full rest during that period and follow each and every instruction carefully.
- Eat a semi-solid diet as prescribed by the surgeon for a fast recovery. Light food such as rice, oatmeal, fruit juice, sauce, etc should be eaten by the patient as these food stuffs can be digested easily. Speed the recovery process through a high intake of fruits.
- Smoking and drinking alcohol should be completely avoided during the healing process. Smoking may lead to serious problems such as severe scarring, extending healing time, and some other complications. Alcohol consumption should be stopped for a certain time as it would cause severe complications.
- Eating dry fruits and beans will speed the recovery process, so have them until you are fully recovered. Taking supplements such as multivitamins can also improve the healing process but to avoid any complications you should consult your doctor for that.
- Avoid using hair dye's and hair colors at least for three weeks after the surgery as it could interfere with the healing process.
Follow your surgeon instructions for a proper recovery process. As these procedures are quite sensitive, you need to take special care after a surgery.
