Skin care

If you are using soap and water to wash your face, ensure that your soap is mild pH balanced soap. This works best for dry skins. If you believe in cleansers, then use a refreshing skin toner after the cleanser to avoid the slightly cloying effect in summer. It also cools and invigorates the skin. In addition, it is necessary to moisturise the face despite the hot, sticky weather as the skin is exposed to the notoriously drying effects of the sun.

Feet therapy

Perspiration while romping around in shoes, especially closed ones, not only spells bad hygiene for feet but also makes you prone to foot odour. To combat the same, a weekly pedicure is a must. After buffing away hard skin, opt for a foot cream which can keep feet odour-free. A dry and cool foot is an indication of irregular oxygen supply to the feet. To avoid this, each morning, give feet a dollop of moisturiser, a dusting powder and a spray of eau de cologne.

Sunscreens

An absolute must in summers, sunscreens and sun blocks form an invisible cover-up for the sun and protect your skin from becoming dry and wrinkled. Apart from the face and exposed body parts, your lips need extra protection in the sun. Since lips do not contain any protective melanin granules or oil glands, intense sunshine causes them to dehydrate, crack, burn or blister. You may even suffer from lip sore which may take days to clear up.

Defuzz

Removing unwanted hair is all the more important now that your legs and arms are going to be on show. Whether you adopt waxing, epilators or a hair removing cream, ensure that you have smooth, hairless arms and legs. Waxing is one of the most popular and safe methods of hair removal as hair is plucked beneath the skin surface and just above the root and hence the result are reasonably long lasting as it takes 2-3 weeks for new growth to sprout.
